Recommended for golfers who:
Like proximity to Downtown, Buckhead. Walking non-development layouts
Owned by the City of
Atlanta
and managed by American Golf, Bobby Jones is one of the most
convenient courses to downtown Atlanta and Buckhead, and
offers some of the metro area's most affordable prices, with
a traditional layouts that can easily be walked and enough
challenge to
keep better players interested while appealing to those of
modest abilities.
Bobby Jones is a short but relatively exacting layout that
requires some accuracy to negotiate the stately old trees
that line a number of fairways. The terrain is quite hilly,
resulting in several shots with significant changes in
elevation and a few where you are unable to see the entire
landing area. At just over 6,000 yards and playing to a par
71, length is rarely a factor, although a few of the uphill
holes will seem a lot longer than the listed yardage.
With an
exception or two, the front nine offers several scoring
opportunities if you can successfully handle the constant
ups and downs beginning with the fourth hole. The back is
the stronger nine of the two, although there are a handful
of breather holes. The back starts and ends strong,
beginning with the longest par 3 and par 4 on the course,
and closes with a solid par 4 that requires a well-struck
tee shot to set up an approach over Nancy Creek, which comes
into play at various spots along the way. An
enjoyable layout with a few different twists.

A very
open course at times with challenging water holes and some
hills with
extreme slopes.
A few of which can be tough.
Coen Tijhof / Atlanta
This course was really good for the money you paid for it.
Exellente Price value combination, greens were farely good
and not too fast. good course for golfers who do not want to
spent lots of money. also nice and close to Downtown Atlanta
Jeri Ramey / Snellville
Near
downtown. Reasonable rates. Good for golfers of all
abilities. Downside is that
it is often very crowded.
Tony Gaines / Decatur
Great layout offers challenge to any amateur
and enjoyable to play. The club house crew and starter were
very pleasant and willing to work with you.
Tony Barnes / Tonawanda, NY
This is a
good course, not too hard, sometimes tight and has some
interesting shots. The course isn't too long, but offers
some opportunities to gamble.
