First-class setting, layout…
Has consistently been ranked among Atlanta's
top handful of courses since opening
in 1995,
when it was ranked in Golf Digest's top 10 new
courses in the country.
Excellent Denis Griffiths design has some length but most
fairways are on the
generous side. Greens are large, undulating and
well-protected, with a deft short
game needed to post a good score.
Located within a gated community, the
amenities, setting and conditions are of private
club
caliber, but St.Marlo is among the most accessible
daily fee courses in Atlanta
in terms of availability of prime tee times. The course is
of equal quality, with what
may be Atlanta's finest
and most picturesque quartet of par
3s, with all four featuring
hazards with distinctive water features protecting the
putting surfaces.
Other highlights include an extremely strong
trio of par 4s that average almost 450
yards from the blue tees, and an interesting group of par 5s
that includes one of
Atlanta's quirkier holes, the
uphill ninth with its green
guarded by a large, menacing
boulder. The fifth is a classic, three-shot par 5 with
precision outranking power, but
the three remaining par 5s offer the hopes of putting for an
eagle after a big drive,
although the penalty for failure at the ninth can be
considerable if you come in contact
with the rock. |

Recently visited Atlanta, and played a number of courses
including St. Marlo. I was very impressed at the calibre of
course and the very reasonable green fees. The houses
adjacent to the course were
unbelievable...incredible scenery! When combined with the
calibre of the golf course it provided for a very enjoyable
day. Would definitely play this course again the next time I
visit!

One of the nicest courses I've played in the southeast. The
course was in excellent condition and the greens are fast
and true. It is well designed and there are not any gimmick
holes. A few good risk reward holes. I'll play it again on
my next trip to Atlanta.

Recently played there..fantastic! Nice pace of play and very
consistent greens through the whole 18. All and all a very
enjoyable round.

A great course with interesting holes, excellent greens and
tee boxes. Always love playing there with a fighting chance
of breaking 90.

Well maintained course. good greens. nice waterfalls, etc.
to keep your mind off all
the houses that surround you.

One of the best designed courses I've played in Atlanta. A
great set of Par 3's, as all
four of them are over water and challenging.

A beautiful course, with very nice, fast
greens. The course plays nicely from the blue
tees, and allows for good scoring as long as you keep it in
play.

This by far
is an A+ course....5 star course no doubt...If you don't
mind paying for it
(upscale in price)....Not only is this a very well kept
course it is very, very challenging
and the landscaping and layout is beautiful...It might not
be a course you play every
week but it you've never played it, it is worth it.

I've played most of the "upscale" courses
around Atlanta, and this is at the top of my list. |
