Bentwater Golf Club Course Review

Bentwater joins Atlanta’s ever-expanding list of excellent daily fee layout courses. Designed by Mike Dasher, who worked for Arthur Hills at the time Towne Lake Hills was designed. Bentwater’s rolling, wooded terrain offers some splendid long range views along with an enjoyable and playable challenge. Wide fairways with mostly level landing areas reduce the impact of the frequent but modest elevation changes, and the greens complexes vary from tame to testy.

With a few notable exceptions, the par 4s are of moderate length and difficulty, with a strong and visually appealing group of par 5s that rank with any in Atlanta. The downhill 14th offers the possibility of getting home in two with some risk involved, with the other three all three-shot holes that require some precision and thought.

There are some holes with significant disparities in distance between the blue and gold tees, and it will make a difference which set you select, although there is not a huge amount of difference in yardage overall. Excellent conditions for a new course and one of four in the north metro area managed by HMS.

  1. This course ranges in difficulty depending on pin placement. Fairways are generous off the tee but once on the fairway trouble usually awaits your next shot. Very enjoyable course and staff is great!

  2. I found Bentwater to have quite a challenging layout – especially from the black tees. Downhill slopes means adjustments for many holes played that day. When the course matures it will definitely be worth playing again.

  3. My son visiting from CA and I played last saturday. We found the course difficult, with several waste areas require caries greater that 150 yds. from the closest tees. The greens were in excellent shape and putted true.

  4. A great course, quite challenging, but fair. Greens are in excellent shape. Layout is superior and
I put this course up there with the best in Atlanta both private and public. Green fees are quite fair for this good a course

  5. Excellent Course with most holes wide open and you can see most flags. Very friendly people. Great Senior rates during the week.

  6. Excellent course. It offers a variety of short & long par 4’s and and excellent set of par 5’s. The greens are always in great shape.

  7. I enjoyed playing this course. Playing from the back tees (over 7000 yards) was a thrill. The greens were a bit dry but rolled true and the pin placements were challenging. I plan to play it again but from the closer tees.

  8. I really enjoyed myself at Bentwater. The fairways are in excellent condition, the greens are fast
and true and you cannot beat the price of admission. Bentwater has become my new favorite golf course.

  9. Very nice course with generous fairways often requiring some carry to get over marsh. Greens are well kept and true. Opens with wide par 5 (556 from blue tees) giving you a chance to step up a rip one or find it if you miss it a bit.
