Woodmont Golf Club Course Review

The first Robert Trent Jones Jr. design in Georgia is one of the finest to debut in Atlanta in a decade that has been very kind to the area’s daily fee players. Woodmont combines eyecatching beauty and a wide variety of hazards that are as threatening as they are attractive. With an exception or two, Jones provides ample room to drive the ball and most of the hazards can be avoided with a little thought and a confident swing. The back nine features one spectacular view after another along with accompanying danger, but the longer and more straightforward front may be the tougher of the two. As the large, undulating greens mature and firm up, it should rank as one of the area’s toughest tests, as well as one of the most entertaining and scenic.

One of the most diverse groups of holes in Atlanta, with five par 3s and five par 5s each. The rolling terrain also impacts play around the greens, with some very touchy pitch shots the result if you miss your target by an appreciable amount. The greens are among the testiest around, but their quality helps compensate for their challenge.

  2. One of the best courses in Atlanta that a golfer can play. It gives every level of golfer a chance to score well. I always find the course in great shape and well maintained. My golfing buddies and I believe that this is one of the best courses to play in Atlanta. Great layout, great condition, great staff to help the golfer.

  4. This is a super golf course. I believe that it is destined to be one of Georgia’s best. A challenging, but fair – everything’s in front of you – golf test in exceptional shape with great character. The better player will really appreciate this design.

  5. WOW. What a fabulous course. It ranks right up there with the best courses in Atlanta! Every-thing is top notch; service, amenities, etc. The only thing missing is beer on Sunday. Oh well, nothing can be perfect. Take your best clients here.

  6. I love this course. It’s open, but does have its tight moments. Remember this while playing, Robert Trent Jones, Jr. played with a slice. Consequently, all holes either have doglegs left or the fairway slopes to the left. the greens are true, which makes for interesting approach shots and putts. Play during twilight, and I doubt you will find a better course around for the money!

  7. Excellent course!!! nice cut out, sloping fairway and the back nine is definitely a must play!
