Lake Spivey Golf Club Course Review

Accessible, affordable, enjoyable…One of a relative handful of 27-hole layouts in the metro area. The three nines opened in different decades and each has its own distinct nature, with the three varying somewhat in length and difficulty. To differing degrees, the layout is relatively open without a great deal of trouble.

Although they were constructed years apart, the three nines mesh together nicely, sharing a traditional feel. The Lake nine is the oldest and lengthiest of the three, with relatively rolling terrain and moderate tight tree lines. The Hill nine is the shortest of the three, with an inviting group of par 4s, but features some of the most undulating greens on the course. The Club nine falls in the middle, with the greens the gentlest among the three but with more bunkers. Each nine features at least a few very strong holes, and there are only a handful of soft touches along the way.

Lake Spivey is family-owned with one of the friendliest atmospheres around, but is one of the area’s leaders in innovation, and was the first course in the country to install Crenshaw bent grass greens. Enjoyable to play with convenient location and among Atlanta’s best values.
