Among area’s tougher tests and one of the most popular. Not exceptionally long, but there are plenty of holes where a solid drive is critical. Arthur Hills-designed course is relatively hilly, but many of the key shots are downhill, and some of the elevated tees provide terrific views. Fair, well-conditioned layout that finishes with watery, par 5 18th that is visually appealing but extremely demanding. Overall, it ranks somewhere in the middle in difficulty among the daily fee layouts in the metro area, and can be tamed if you have a decent day with the driver. Not overly long, but there are a few holes where you need to pop it off the tee. Hilly terrain includes a number of elevated tees that effectively reduce the distance, as well as offering some appealing views. The par 4s include an interesting mix, with distance a major factor on just a couple. Several of the shorter 4s require well-placed tee shots and precise approaches, with water, sand and some fairly tight tree lines in play. The most memorable hole on the course is the devilish par-5 finishing hole that requires a heroic shot over water. Big hitters can reach the green in two if they are willing to accept a significant risk, while most players will need two healthy smacks just to reach a layup area that must also cross the pond. A great but demanding 18th hole. With some of the area’s smaller putting surfaces, most of which have a fair amount of slope and are surrounded by mounds, deep bunkers or both, Olde Atlanta also requires a lot from your short game. The course is consistently among the best conditioned in Atlanta, and one of the most popular.
