Towne Lake Hills Golf Club Review

Located on some of the more rolling terrain in the Atlanta area, the Towne Lake Hills Golf Club is among the most demanding off the tee, especially on a strong group of par 4s. The overall length of the course is modest, with several holes playing shorter than the yardage because of elevated tees. But some of the par 4s place significant pressure on both the tee shot and approach, with particular danger for those whose misses tend to go to the right.

The par 3s are on the short side, but unless you can control your distance and successfully deal with fairly constant windy conditions, they may not be as easy a mark as they appear. The diverse group of par 5s including one of the area’s most appealing holes — the reachable, downhill fifth that features a massive, three-tier green angling around a pond; as well as one of the most diabolical — the long, winding and perilous 18th, which presents all sorts of problems from tee to green.

Conditions are always of a high standard, with the sizeable greens that are only modestly bunkered offering very few straight putts. The rolling terrain offers a number of appealing views, but is in part responsible for challenge the layout poses. Designed by Arthur Hills and his associate Mike Dasher.
