Rivers Edge Golf Club Course Review

One of the finest courses on Atlanta’s southside and among the area’s most distinctive layouts. PGA Tour architect Bobby Weed designed a course that offers relatively ample area to drive the ball, but has challenging greens complexes, with grass bunkers used in spots instead of sand. Conditioning is consistently excellent with some of the area’s best greens. Designed by Bobby Weed, now the primary golf course architect for the PGA Tour, the layout is among the most distinctive in the metro area. Considered one of the southside’s premier courses, it is an excellent test that provides mostly generous fairways with length a real factor on only a handful of holes.

The greens complexes are among the course’s strengths, with Weed frequently using grass bunkers and mounds in place of sand. There is a significant difference between the two nines, with the front considerably longer with four very strong par 4s. Long considered one of the best values in all of Atlanta, although location is a bit remote. Watery, par-4 ninth is among Atlanta’s best and most visually appealing holes.

River’s Edge was recently acquired by the family that owns Lake Spivey, one of the southside’s most successful operations. The course has been a popular tournament site over the years, hosting some statewide amateur events as well as several regional professional tours.
